Who is Competing?
I am. As a certified personal trainer it is important for me to maintain the lifestyle I preach to my clients. I lead a clean lifestyle year round and love to workout. My training regiment consists of yoga 2-4 days a week, running 3-7 miles 1-3 days a week, strength training 3-5 days a week. I spend Sundays resting my body. My weakness is sweets. I could skip dinner to enjoy a frozen yogurt or piece of dark chocolate.

What am is the Competition?
The NPC Sacramento Bodybuidling, Men's Physique Fitness, Figure and Bikini Championships. This is a national qualifying competition, which means if I win I can compete in the IFBB Pro Bikini Championships next year.

When and where am I competing?
November 5th, 2011 at 6 pm. It will be at the Crest Theater, located at 1013 K Street, Sacramento, CA.

Why am I competing?
I like to challenge myself. Last year I did my first half marathon, the Nike Women's Marathon, which was something that scared me. I never ran more than 4 miles in my life, it seemed impossible to run 13.5. Not only did I finish the race, but I had a blast and grew from the experience.

This year, I want to drastically change my body. Losing and gaining 5 lbs comes easy for me,  but I have never pushed myself past my body's comfort zone. I tell my clients everyday that they can weigh less than they have in years, but I have never done it. I want to go through the challenges they feel. I am ready to take my body and practice to the next level.

How am I going to compete?
First of all, I am getting a lot of help from my friends who have a ton of experience in the industry.
In order to hit the ground running, I am giving myself less than 10 weeks to train. When I get ready for anything, I thrive better off pressure because it keeps me focused. If I have too much time, I will lose steam and give myself excuses to cheat. Most should allot themselves 12 weeks to train, however I spent the last month mentally and physically preparing for the challenge.
On August 1st, I started 30 day fast, which runs from sunrise to sunset; no food, water or supplements. At night, I had one large meal and then I went to bed. At 8 am, 5 days a week, I performed 30 minutes of strength training to maintain my lean muscle mass. My meals consisted of a homemade soup or salad, different proteins each night, a complete grain, and tons of veggies. I consumed between 1,000 and 1,200 calories per night. Other than training clients and my small workout, I spent most days resting my body. So for 30 days before my training I have been eating clean and working out 5 days a week and getting tons of rest. Come September 6th I am ready to go!
